I love my Maytag washer but I am noticing that I have lint on my dark clothes when I wash them irregardless of the type of laundry detergent I use. I am thinking I may need to clean the filter-especially since I do wash my horse balankets in this washer and it is 17 years old! I have downloaded your tub diagram on the model and it looks like #27 is the filter but exactly how do I get off the top of the agitator to clean it. (Your parts dept does not carry the part so I assuming I should just clean it.)
Thanks so much,
Denise

This service manual will show you how to get to it.

I would also open up the machine and clean out the pump and internal drain hoses.

Your experience with this machine is amazing. To use it that hard and to have it still running is a testament to Maytag quality when Maytag had quality.

I would try to keep this machine running as long as possible. With the newer machines washing horse blankets will soon send you to the laundramat on a regular basis.

Thank you so much and we'll definitely take good care of this machine.
It's time to give back to it- It really has served us well especially since we have never even had a service call on it.
