My Admiral dryer, which was bought about 11 and a half months ago, is making a terrible thumping noise, like drying sneakers, with, or without clothes inside. Would like to take apart to check belts and such, but have no idea as to where to begin to dissasemble. Please help, everything is breaking down this month, funds are too low to call in a repair man. Thanks.

If your dryer is less then a year old it is still under the full manufacturer warranty and Maytag must provide service without any charge to you.

Thanks for your responce about my Admiral dryer, but, when I typed this, I don't know what I was thinking. it is 13 & 1/2 months old, not 11 & 1/2. It was bought in Dec. of 06. So any help would be appreciated as how to take the dryer apart. Thanks.

Most likely this noise caused by the loose drum baffle (due to missing screws) or a foreign objects inside one of the drum baffles.

Using a putty knife push the the top cabinet clip on each side of the front panel and lift the top panel.

Move the drum by hands until you will see two screws mounting the baffle.

- The part number for the screw is AP3989532

- The part number for the baffle is AP3830515

Thanks Gene for your help. Husband tried to get the top up and didn't work, he was afraid he would tear it up, I went in there tonight and got it popped up, but now am lost. There are many screws, two at a time when you turn the drum, I think I am going to have to call in a repair man, I need pictures as to what I am doing, I am a gal, and not much of a machanic. But thanks for your help.
