pic of rear of oven knob. And in the oven. The out tube from the knob goes into the oven then just under it is the smaller tube that goes to the valve that at the bottom of the oven, then under that is the small prob. When you turn on the oven dial there is a little pop you can hear in the knob. The wires from the knob have been wire nutted to one power wire. Thanks Dave mixerman attached the following image(s):

Thats looks like the standard safety valve used by sears kenmore but you need to remove it and compare it with a newer one. I would bet you need to replace this valve

It would be better if you removed the valve and matched it up. All of them work the same way though. But not all use the same size connections. It is a pisser
