Maybe something stuck in the blower? If you have someone to help you, give the motor a spin when they hit the start switch. If the motor is free and it won't hand start, sounds like you need a new motor. Part number: AP2043550

well, momma is happy and so am I .....no cost fix....this time.....
It was the centrifugal start switch that wasn't resetting due to lint build up on the mechanical part of the start switch....cleaned off the linkage, blew it out and away it went.......however that being a set of contacts with pretty good amperage I imagine many "bad" motors are really a set of pitted contacts.
thus a follow up question for the parts folks.
can those start switches that are on the back of the motor be gotten separate from the motor?
thanks tom

No you can’t replace the start switch. However I have repaired many dryers the way you described (cleaning contacts) I think you are ok. If the dryer does the same thing again soon I would recommend changing the motor. Clothes Dryer Repair Guide
