Hi, We have an Amana art663ww. Our previous tenant broke the outer door to the oven (part number AP80260) so we need to replace it. A repair guy quoted us $350 including parts and labor, which is ridiculous, considering we could buy a whold new stove for that much money. We'd like to try to do it ourselves, but before I go and order the part, I really need to know: 1. How difficult is this to do? Can any lay person do this or do you have to have special knowledge? 2. Are there any special tools involved. We'd need to factor those into the price. 3. How long (approximately) do you think this would take to do?
Any and all info is greatly appeciated!

Here is the process: Think where you would want to set the door on. Countertop works fine. Put a large thick beach towel on the countertop. Open the door at the first break point (about 30 degrees). Pull up on the door to remove it off its hinges. Set the door on the towel with the handle facing up. Then, using the door breakdown diagram replace the outer door glass. Once finished, set the door back down on its hinges. Make sure the door is all the way down. Try to swing the door both ways a little bit. If feels fine, close it and try again. That's about it. Should not take more than an hour. Whatever you decide to do, I would not call that repair guy back for any other job. Even $250 sounds a bit much to replace this door glass.
