Hey there - we have a Whirlpool over-the-range hood/microwave combo that we just went to replace the light (range side, not internal). In the process of doing so, it sparked and blew the circuit breaker in the house for the outlet. No big deal, we replaced the bulb and reset the breaker, however there's no power to anything now. The front face remains blank, no light when you open the door, and all the controls don't work. I tried setting and resetting the breaker, and checking all other breakers and they are fine. I confirmed the outlet it's plugged into is getting power, so now I'm concerned there's an internal fuse that perhaps is blown? Is this something I can replace or we need to get someone to do for us? In looking online a replacement hood/microwave will run around $225 so just curious if we do have a professional do this what the cost will be and if it isn't a better deal to buy a new one? Thanks for the help!

Originally Posted by: tvtech check the fuse dont be scared open the unit follow the power wires. unplug it of course Thanks - ended up taking it apart much more than I really wanted to. In the end, the fuse was simply behind the control panel. If you remove the upper vent guard there is a single screw holding the control panel in place. Based on the location, I would still recommend taking it off the wall before pulling the fuse, but it was fairly easy. Radioshack had four of them for $3 and that did the trick! The only issue I have now is that my overhead light still doesn't work after replacing the bulb (UNPLUGGING it this time before changing it). I may have to replace that part but I'll check the voltage at the socket before doing so. Appreciate the reply!
