This is an old built in warhorse that we try to keep going. Latest problem was manifested by burning odor and sparking in control bay. After pulling it out I have found a burnt component that I cannot identify. Approximately 1/2 inch diameter, about 1 1/4 inches long, a metal cylinder with a cardboard sleeve. three leads coming out, thick red, thick black, thinner white. the part has the following imprinting: GE WB27X5072 7752 SC260D8.

Quite a few components seem to begin with WB27X in this unit, so this might be a model number indicator; speaking of model number I cannot find one on the unit anywhere.

The part is fried, it appeared to be affixed to the top of the larger transformer in the unit but I may be misinterpreting some melted insulation. Of the three leads one at least goes to the smaller transformer...

Any help appreciated !

Hi Terrh,

This part (part number WB27X5072) calls "triac" and is no longer available.

Gene.
