Hi! First, I want to thank you for the EXCELLENT resource! I need some help hooking up the Defrost Heating Kit. My fridge was not cooling properly and after some research in this forum, I figured it was the Defrost Heating Element. I went ahead and bought the part (wr51x10101)... which is the dual heating element kit, illustrated below. The broken unit has a single element, one plug on each side... blue cable connected on the left and pink cable on the right. The instructions on the new unit indicates that the side with the yellow jumper cables on the left. My questions...
- Where do I connect the blue cable on the left side? Do I remove one of the jumpers? As you can see on the picture below, besides the jumpers the are two empty sockets ('holes'?), but they seem to be complete duds... no place to connect the blue cable! Should I disconnect one of the jumpers and connect the blue cable to it?
- The right side has two empty sockets ('holes') and two sockets on the far right (with a metal part inside). It makes sense to think that the pink cable should be connected to one of them. The question is... Where should I connect the pink cable?
Thanks a million for the help... the economy is very hard (just lost my job) and this saved me a repair quote of $400. THANKS!

First, Im going to toot my own horn since my price to perform this repair is half what your quote was.
Secondly, the instructions in the package tell you exactly the steps required to fit the re-designed dual element heater. do not disconnect the yellow jumper wire, simply move the blue wire from the left side of the evaporator to the right side, down along the same side as the pink wire. it should be pretty obvious that the blue and pink wires plug into the right side of the heater assembly. it does not matter which wire goes into which plug, its an A/C circuit.

Just recieved the Dual Defrost heater assembly in the mail... didn't come with instructions at all. I haven't attempted to install yet... as I noticed the two different bulbs w/ brackets are separate. When I removed the original, i only had to remove one bracket that was screwed to the metal frame underneath the coils. However, i'm confused as to how these TWO brackets will attach to the same spot. Do I need to screw the brackets together first?

Ok, if Im understanding you correctly, you have two separate single element brackets, with one element per bracket? If that is the case, that is not the heater assembly that you included in a previous post. That bracket pictured was of a dual element bracket, two heaters, one bracket. that part # is a 51x10101. The double bracketed assembly I described earlier in this post is either a 51x442, or something similar.
The bad news is, they sent you the wrong part. if you had a single element-single heater configuration before, you need the dual element-single bracket assembly, 51x10101. This is a redesigned OEM replacement part. It is designed to divide the heating load between the two elements, which is why the original burnt out.

woops I should clarify that it was another user that started this post and posted the pic of the dual element single-bracket... but yes... the assembly I removed from the fridge was a single element bracket w/ 1 bulb. I ordered (what i thought was correct) the dual assembly defrost heater w/ two tubes and defrost thermostat. They are two separate brackets w/ 1 bulb each. I've attached a picture of the part I ordered. It was Part Number: AP2071464 Manufacturer's Number: WR51X442 made by GE
I guess I need to order the dual element SINGLE bracket in order for it to fit? Appreciate your help with this - i'm really a novice at this handy-man stuff (but it's saving us a lot of money instead of dishing out $900 for a fridge) joeytack attached the following image(s):
