I have a Maytag Atlantis Top Loading washing machine, Model MAV9501EWW that doesn't want to spin at the end of the agitation cycle. It will spin just fine on the dedicated spin cycles, but on both Normal and Delicate cycles, it will not spin prior to the rinse.

Any ideas or clues on what is causing this or how to fix it?

Since there does not seem to be a mechanical problem I would think replacing the timer might fix your problem. This part here, fortunately not expensive as timers go.
