my 4 yr old microwave quit working today. The timer counts down and the light inside comes on but nothing else works. The exhaust fan never has worked. It's suppose to come on automatically if it gets too hot. I checked the door switches and they are fine. The surface light also comes on. Is there a way to check the fuse to see if it's blown? Any other potential problem parts I should check? Thanks.

If the fuse blows, you won't even get the display. You need to see if you're getting 120VAC to the ppower transformer. This requires removing the cabinet cover, and doing a live voltage test. If you can't do this SAFELY, it's best left to a pro. Everything from the transformer back has high to very high voltage in normal operation.

Then the problem is in the control board.
