My Whirlpool microwave is right around 5 years old and has always worked perfectly. Recently, it just went dead. No lights, no display, no power. The outlet it is plugged into works fine. Plugging the microwave into a new, known good outlet does not help, still dead. I replaced the Line Fuse inside the microwave with a new 20A fuse. No change. Do you have (and know how to use) a multimeter?
Also we need the full model number from the unit.
The numbers you gave us are for the manual itself
and not microwave model number.

Yessir.
If I heard no advice before this weekend, my next step would be to test each component with a multimeter. I think there's even notes in that PDF about what I should see for each component.
Does that sound like a good plan?

I believe we can at least set you in the right direction
but we still need the full model number from your oven.

Hey Glen65, sorry for the confusion (on my part). The model number is: MH6141XK Q-1
(sometimes the Q-1 is ommitted in the paperwork but I'm 100% sure about the rest)
Hey MicrowaveDisplaycom, I think I follow you. If I have an open condition at the thermostat, no power will cross it (like any other open condition).
So do I need to replace the thermostat to resolve this (which I think I can do), or is there a less involved fix?

-Tom That may very well be the cause but you need to check it first. Use your ohm meter and check for continuity across both the thermostat and the main fuse (even though you’ve replaced it.)The thermostat is covered in the manual you posted.glen65 attached the following image(s):

Ok, so I tested across the thermostat with the multimeter (set to resistance) and it reads "infinite ohms".
So, I'm planni9ng to replace the thermostat. Does anyone know a reliable place to pick one up?

CORRECTION: THe thermostat passes voltage with no impedance when it is cold.
Sorry, had got that one backwards and asked an engineer to check me.
Anyway, when out of the microwave and cold, there is no impedance through the thermostat.
