I'm in need of some repair help with my Maytag Washer. The machine has a very bad vibration and moves around the floor when in the spin cycle. I pulled the front cover off and all of the springs seem to be just fine. What else can I check to resolve the problem.

Thanks John

Hi John,

Here are a few things you have to check first:

Weak floors can cause vibration and walking.

Legs level and secure.

Be sure rubber feet are installed on leveling legs.

Check that the leveling leg lock nuts are tightened.

Check the belt.

Gene.

Thanks for the information. I tried everything on your list Level, Belts, Locking Nuts etc. but nothing worked. Do you have another suggestion that I could try?

Thanks
John

Look at the tub seal above the tranny, is it leaking? Check for white shavings under the tranny.

You might check the condition of the "balance ring" attached to the top of the tub. I believe Maytag is the same design as my Amana, and the ring had worn through so the "balancing fluid" can spin its way out...

you can check for wear just by moving the tub around and looking at the plastic for damage.

Also, have you checked the main (motor) counterweight (the grey plastic box full of cement)?
make sure it's attached properly...

Thanks guys.
I'm throwing in the towel. I checked everything I could possibly check. Besides having the bad vibration the washer has developed a bad leak coming from the center of the machine. I think I'm just going to buy a new one.

Thanks Again
John
