My dishwasher may be 10 years old, it was in the house when i bought it. It has never cleaned the dishes well, especially the plastic. Sometimes they come out dirtier. I have done some reading and i have cleaned the drain filter, checked the arms and they are not clogged. There is a small plastic piece on the floor of the front left, it moves and isnt clogged. So i took of the drain screen and i guess what is called the cover-volute?? that is what the diagram called it. I am trying to get off the housing sump but afraid i am gonna break it. there is some dirt around the rim. Also some dirt in general around the drain pump. Not sure how to clean it. My drain pump does not look like the one in the pic i found..there was a small white ball in front of the drain hole. I may just need a new washer or hand wash but i am trying to fix this one before i buy another. My water is scallding hot, i have not actually tested the temp but it is very hot, when u open the dishwasher when washing steam billows out. There is nothing clogging the drain from the bottom of the dishwasher and the drain that connects to the sink pipe is also clean. There was already a tall loop in the pipe to keep the sink water out. Any suggestions??
Thanks,
Robin

Get some CRL cleaner, pour in bottom of unit. Let it sit about 8 hours, then run a normal cycle without any dishes in it. This will help clean the calcium out of places you cannot access, or clean.

10 years is a good run for a dishwasher. I would not put any serious money in it. Cheaper to but a new one.
