Now, I'm wondering if the freely-spinning plastic coupler is the culprit.

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 3/27/2008(UTC) Posts: 3		If you have a similar GE model the agitator coupler is that plastic cup that attaches the agitator to the tranmission shaft. It has a screw on the top which you will need to remove in order to replace the coupler. The coupler will be around $5 and it protects your transmission so it doesn't break from excesive torque. Hope this helps!
