My central heat unit will not come on at all. If I turn on the A/C, the fan will blow. Any ideas?

today there are many types of furances some have pilots some have spark ignitors some have glow ignitors without knowing which you have we have nowhere to start

I know that it is electric- not gas, so no pilot light.
