Ouch! The only good news is that by replacing it yourself you are saving the cost of a tech visit and the rather huge mark up they would charge on the part. You may want to search the web to see if you can get it at a better price, but my experience is that APP is about the best (do not work for them, am a volunteer responder) Good luck, hope this works out.

the problem with the washer was the door lock . might want to keep this in mind if someone else has this problem with their frigidiare front load washer. again thanks for your help.

The schematic for this shows the wiring inputs to the control board including the door switches, however, it takes a meter to test them. Lesson learned, best to have a meter handy to diagnose this kind of a problem.
