Have a Hot Point Side by Side refrigerator. It is making a low huming noise off and on. What could be the problem. I have cleaned the lint as much as possible.

How it's cooling?

Did this noise come from the compressor (on the back of the fridge), especially at start up?

If not then try to locate where it's coming from.

Refrigerator& frezzer are running and cooling fine. Got behind it, clean the vent, somethiing was stuck on the small fan and was not turning. When removed the fan started operating ok. Now it seems it is making the huming noise when the refrigerator starts cooling then after a while it quits. Sounds like it is doing it when the compressor kicks back on.

This is a very first sign of the dying compressor, but nobody knows how much longer it's going to last. It can be "days" and it can be "months".
