Hi there,
I have a 4-5 year old GE Profile SpaceMaker XL1800 that will not heat food. All of a sudden, the microwave started making this buzzing noise and will not heat the food .
I sure could use some technical advise on what I can do if anything.
Please help :(

Typically the diode causes the buzzing noise and if the diode is bad the magnetron tube is almost always bad as well. However the capacitor can cause the buzzing noise and if it were bad it wouldn’t heat. You can check the diode with an ohmmeter it will check open one way then when you reverse the leads on the meter it will get a reading. If you place an ohmmeter across the capacitor it will read at first then go back down to nothing/ open. Then if you reverse the leads it will do the same. Before checking either disconnect power and unhook wires from the device you are checking. If you find the diode bad most likely the magnetron tube is bad or going bad this page will help you with replacing it GE Spacemaker Microwave Magnetron Tube Replacement Also this page may help with troubleshooting Microwave Repair Guide
