Hello,

My top-loading Whirlpool washer is having major issues. The tub shakes violently whenever it is in the spin cycle. I've tried to tinker with the balance springs underneath the tub, but it still keeps shaking like it's majorly out of balance, what should I do?

The skate plate on the bottom is loose, it only has one pin, how many pins are there supposed to be? The pin has fallen out, how do you put it back in?

Any advice will greatly be appreciated.

I would start by replacing the springs, and when you do make sure the plate is positioned correctly. The springs can go bad, but you cannot tell that from just looking at them.

This may help enough to make your machine functional, or it may cure the shakes altogether. The pins are held in place by a plastic "cup" but I have not found their absence to be a major problem.
