I was given the above model gas dryer with s/n MW2709294 for possible repair. The unit would not start but made a slight click when the start button was pushed. I suspected the control panel area was the source of the problem. The panel was removed from the dryer and inspected for a relay /wire problem . The electronic panel was removed from the plastic carrier and one of the pins for the K1 relay was burned where it was soldered into the solid state board. I repaired it using a short piece of wire to jumper it to the intended pin connection. It does not look pretty but it did work. I have seen this before on this Duet dryer and am asking other techs if this repair has been done and if it is likely to last very long.

A failure like this is normally due to the connection point or the relay heating up. This could be caused by a solder joint that was weak, however, it could indicate a different issue altogether. If there is not a grounded out wire that could cause excess current to run through the solder joint, there is likely a control failure and this would likely happen again. Replacing the control would be the most effective repair in this situation.
