I have an older Kenmore, side by side refrigerator/freezer.

Recently it stopped freezing/cooling.
Still had power as normal.
You could hear fan running as normal.

I tried adjusting the freezer temperature settings to listen to the compressor possibly kick on.

It did come on, and did not hear any strange clicking/humming noises other that normal compressor noise.

The freezer started freezing as normal. After some time, hours later, I went back to check and the freezer was not freezing again. I power cycled the entire unit and it started freezing again.

Seems like the compressor is not being triggered to come back on, once the temperature in the freezer drops below a certain temperature. By adjusting the temperature dial it seems to manually trigger the compressor.

I thought it may be the starter relay but these symptoms don't seem to point to that as no clicking noises etc.

Any thoughts?
