I own a 19-year-old GE side-by-side French door refrigerator, specifically the GE Refrigerator model GSS25XSRCSS. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing issues with the Dispenser Touchpad Assembly. Its behavior is erratic, as it unpredictably switches between water dispenser and Cube (ice) dispenser modes. Even after repeatedly pressing the water dispenser button, it tends to revert to the ice dispenser or get stuck in that mode. Occasionally, the water dispenser button functions, but the reliability is inconsistent.

I've noticed that disconnecting the power temporarily resolves the cube dispenser mode issue, but this solution is short-lived. I'm seeking advice on the potential reasons behind this erratic behavior. Is it likely that the Dispenser Touchpad Assembly needs replacement, or could it be a simpler issue like a loose connection or a faulty/damaged wire?

Moreover, I'm interested in understanding how to remove the Dispenser Touchpad Assembly for a thorough inspection or replacement. Any guidance or suggestions on troubleshooting and resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.
