I’m replacing the Gearcase # W11393685 (AP6977680) on a Maytag Model W11393685 Washer and ordered the rubber coated Washer # W11032711 (AP6038816) frequently purchased with the gearcase but don’t know where it is used in the assembly. The same sealing washer was not observed in the existing Maytag purchased new and not previously disassembled. Perhaps the item’s function is now integral to the gearcase and no longer needed? The repair video on gearcase replacement does not mention the washer. I thought I saw a post indicating the part is not needed but cannot recall where and would like to confirm.
