My Whirlpool washer (WTW5540SQ0) will fill with water, the agitator works, but it will not spin. I only get a hum from the motor.
*I have checked the pump, it spins. *I have checked the hoses, they're clear of debris *The motor works during the agitate cycle *I have removed the agitator, nothing is obstructing *I can see around the drum, nothing is obstructing it from spinning
Is there a way I can check with this motor?

Pull the motor and pump off and do the tranny coupler test in my "sticky" "replacing direct drive brake shoes", post results.

Hopefully I have found the problem. I took the capacitor off, then hooked the motor up, started the spin cycle and manually spun the crank on the motor. It instantly started up. I ordered a new capacitor, much cheaper than a motor. I'll let people know if this works.

Very rare these oil filled start capacitors fail, keep us informed if that fixed it.
