I am hoping to find someone that has experience with fabricating a new 5/16" burner tube that uses the "Robertshaw "Double Bead" end. Please Google images of: "UTS Robertshaw Double Bead" for image.

The middle burner supply tube was damaged in disassembling the cooktop for other service issues. GE has discontinued support for this model and the necessary repair part (WB28X10033) is no longer manufactured or available. I have not been able to come up with a new or used part or another burner supply tube that I can cut and modify.

My goal is to fabricate a replacement supply tube by forming new ends on 5/16" diameter, .031 wall thickness aluminum tubing with a tube beading tool. Unfortunately, the tool to produce a double bead end is not commonly available. A repair technician I spoke with had a field service tool designed to form the unique Robertshaw double bead end, but it was lost at some years ago. I have not been able to locate anyone else that owns or can identify the make and model of such a tool.

If anyone knows of an old Robertshaw double bead forming tool for sale I would be interested in buying it. Baring that, any suggestions on duplicating the end using modern beading tools would be appreciated. I am aware of a small tubing bead forming tools but none are designed to produce the double bead shape. The repair tech that I spoke with described a hydraulic forming tool that clamped and compressed the tubing end to form the "accordion" double bead shape.

I am a mechanic with machinist skills and given enough time I am sure that I can make some sort of custom forming tool to produce the part. OTOH, the customer (my wife) would prefer a faster solution if possible!

The simple approach would be to find either the right or left side burner supply lines (X10032 / X10036) and reform or shorten it with a union. Better yet would be to locate a "new old stock" (X10033) line somewhere. The unique design of the mating surfaces of the Robertshaw burner orifice holder and burner control valves will not mate with a simple 5/16" compression ferrule and cap nut. Hence the need for either a stock tubing ends or fabricating a new tube completely.

Any suggestions on buying or building tooling to form the Robertshaw double bead end or the availability of replacement parts for the GE Monogram would be greatly appreciated.
