The machine completes the wash cycle, then I hear the motor trying to spin. I open the lid and the machine is not spinning. If I open and close the lid, it then starts to spin.

I replaced the lid switch, same thing.

Any ideas?

Two possibilities come to mind. 1. The timer isn't pausing and then going into spin. Normally the washer is draining the water out and the there is very brief pause, then the motor starts back up and the washer makes a clunk noise and starts spinning. If it never pauses... no spin. You opening and closing the lid activates the spin.

2. The spin pawl in the gearcase/transmission is not swinging out and engaging the spingear. On this diagram its part of the Neutral Ays. Pack... part no. 24

Oh, one other possibility... How warm is the room the washer is in? If its below 70 degrees F. that can cause problems like this. The oil in the gearcase is 50 weight, so colder than normal temp. can effect its operation.
