The dryer works fine except the buzzer won't shut off at the end of the cycle. I either have to leave the door open or unplug it. I had a repairman out yesterday...he said he thought it was the timer and said it would cost me $565 for the part and labour. He also said the start button works but only when you push on right side and that might be more repairs down the road.

Do you think it's the timer? Or could it be something simpler? And would you repair it as it is 21 years old (no prior issues) or buy a new dryer?

Thanks!

It might be the timer. Why not just disconnect the buzzer? Do you really need it?

This is the buzzer.

The buzzer is a convenience thing and does not normally affect the dryer operation. I also suggest you disconnect it. It is a timer function . Of more concern is the start button that may malfunction when you try to start the machine. Timers for this machine are expensive but buzzers and start buttons are fairly cheap and easy to replace. Keep it going until it wont work at all in my opinion. These units will last at least 25 years with minor repairs.
