I have a new french door refrigerator freezer combo. The unit seems to have intermittent issues with keeping items in the freezer frozen. After less than 1 month of use I have twice found food in a thawing / semi-thawed state and temps above 30 F. The freezer is capable of -7 F (as measured by a mercury type thermometer). This would seem to suggest there is a problem with the defrost circuit staying on for too long (or some other defrost issue).

No trouble codes could be found when using the smart diagnosis feature on the LG phone app. It reports: "Did not detect abnormal operation." This directly contradicts the empirical evidence that my (deep freeze) food is thawing far too much.

The first time this happened I thought I may have overloaded the freezer and potentially blocked airflow. After this happened I removed many items and ensured the freezer was only about half loaded and had good airflow. However, after it happened a second time I knew I had a legitimate issue that needed to be fixed.

After doing some research I found out you can get stored error codes by pressing the ice and freezer button simultaneously. When I did that, I got code 55 or SS -Shortened or opened pantry sensor by reviewing LG website LG Refrigerator Error Codes

What is the pantry sensor? Does this have any relationship to the problems I am having?
