I've noticed the fabric softner dispenser is almost always either holding water or has not dispensed the softner after a full cycle. I recently used the laundry sanitizer product (much thinner liquid than softner) and it also remained in the cup after a full cycle and an additional rinse cycle. Sometimes if I shut the compartment door quickly or "slam" the washer door, I will notice it draining down. I routinely run cleaning cycles and I have removed the dispenser tray and cleaned it. Any other suggestions before I give up and get a Donny ball?
*majority of time I am running delicate cycles with tap cold setting

I had the same issue with mine. It turned out to be the water valve (WH23X29553). It has to fire two streams of water simultaneously to direct water down the channel to send water to the softener portion of the tray.
