I have a similar problem with my Whirlpool WRS950SIAH00 side-by-side refrigerator/freezer - in my case the neutral and ground to the ice maker have broke inside the wiring harness where the door swings open and closed, causing it to not work. A GFCI alerted me to the problem, as apparently the neutral is shorting with the ground sometimes as the door closes and tripping the receptacle.

I had a similar problem recently with a Whirlpool over-the-range microwave oven too, where the microwave sometimes thought the door was open when it was closed because of a broken neutral wire inside the door that gets slightly pulled as the door opens and closes until it broke.

They don't sell new wiring harness. You just have to fix it yourself. With the microwave, there were instructions out there on how to remove and open the door to get to the interior wiring and control board, at which point I isolated where it broke inside the wiring insulation and was able to solder and heat shrink it back together.

I'm not so optimistic with the freezer door however. The DIY instructions and videos don't seem to go beyond changing the gasket and detaching the door. It's very heavy and the freezer needs to be shut down and emptied. But worst of all, I have no clue how to disassemble the door to get to the interior wiring! Looking for a clue here where the screws, clips, or snaps are, this thing seems pretty solid!
