Recently my Maytag washer started producing a knocking sound when attempting to agitate and the agitation is very weak. In the normal cycle mode the washer hangs on sensing fill and just keeps adding water, but setting it to deep water wash allows the cycle to progress. It's not throwing any error codes either. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this?

I think I figured it out. The splutch linkage to the shift actuator is hard to operate. The S.A. tests good so it's probably the splutch. I'll order a new one and see if it fixes the problem.
