after digging in further,{all the way} I found that the tub seal has been seeping{ repaired about 6yrs ago w/new bearings and clutch} The washer has been getting louder and louder for about a year now. although bearings don't feel that bad, one must be rough, I'll pop off the seal later. this is just an update in case anyone still has one of these machines. I have resorted to having the left lid latch hanging out of the cabinet for a few years now in order to reset the control board every 3 or 4 loads. now I'm trying to decide to buy bearings and seal again for another run. what looks like has happened this time was during a load of heavy blankets the belt began squealing and finally locked up. I thought that the noisy bearing had seized finally so I began the teardown process. noticed as before 5 or 6 pennies under the tumblers at the bottom of the tub. One penny I noticed was cut in half with a recent shiny grind mark on one side. it didn't occur to me that was the noise I heard before the belt stopped turning. like I said it had a noisy bearing anyway so I kept digging. I guess due to the age of this machine we should go look and see what is out there to replace it. I have a number of parts if I decide to junk it if anyone wants anything. just thought I would share my findings for anyone that still has one of these. The worst part of all is my wife may end up with mismatched washer/drier like when we first got married! lol
