We have a 2007 Maytag MGD9700SQ0 gas dryer that was in our barn in storage for 3 years. We hooked it up recently and all seemed to be working except the gas not coming on to heat after the igniter. So drum was spinning, detected a wet towel was inside, igniter comes on and off, but no gas/flame. After lots of research on common causes for "dryer won't heat", we did the following:

1. Replaced the gas valve coils with genuine whirlpool coils - no change

2. Replaced thermal fuse, even though it looked ok in continuity test - no change

3. Replaced thermistor, even though it looked ok in continuity test - no change

4. Replaced Flame Sensor, even though it looked ok in continuity test - no change

5. Replaced ignitor, even though it appeared to be working ok and looked ok in continuity test - no change

6. Replaced high limit thermostat, even though it looked ok in continuity test - no change

7. Replaced wire harness to coils, flame sensor and ignitor - no change

8. Lots more internet research looking for less common potential root cause

9. Loosened gas hose connection enough to smell gas to confirm supply - yep, smelled gas

10. Replaced the Gas Valve – no change

11. Replaced heat relay on control board (DIY soldering) – no change

12. One article said “dryer won’t heat” could be caused by a bad centrifugal switch on the motor

13. Replaced motor – no change

14. Replaced Control Board – no change

Since we have practically rebuilt the dryer at this point, we want opinions on where to go next.

Questions:

1. Is there a gas pressure requirement of some sort that comes into play as to whether the gas valve will open?

2. This dryer does not appear to have a cycling/operating thermostat. Is that possible? Seems like it as we have torn this dryer down multiple time and we can’t find it.

3. What else could be wrong or where should we look next?
