I was installing a propane conversion kit, when turning the regulator cover dial to LPG, I knocked off that metal cap on top of the dial. It snapped back on, but I'm wondering if it serves any purpose, other than a dust cover? It seems to me that it would hold a spring to push against the diaphragm, but nothing was in there... operates fine, but I'm wondering if the regulator is functioning properly

Any help would be much appreciated!
