Hi guys, I'm David. New to site. Working on GE washer WHSE5240D1WW. Found water on floor, traced it to bottom of tub where trans shaft goes up into outer tub. She's fine on fill, but within a minute or two of agitation, water drips. 1. Replaced tub seal, still leaked. 2. Found suggestions to apply Indian Head Gasket Shellac on outside of tub seal. Did that. Shellac oozed out where applied. Smoothed out, then let dry 24 hours. Reinstalled. Still leaks. Where Shellac was applied looks solid. Only guess is leak is coming from inner part of seal, where rubber meets trans shaft. Metal there not completely smooth (worn with age, a few very small pits). Any ideas? Could something besides tub seal be the culprit? (ex: trans shaft, tub bearing/washer) Any way to seal off where tub seal/trans shaft meet? (guessing no because doesn't seal turn about on metal shaft while agitating?) Appreciate any input. Thanks!!!
