First off....to me, electricity is sorcery! Mechanically I'm good but don't get the power stuff.

When troubleshooting the problem, there are 4 safety/limit switches that could be an issue, have changed all of these.

Changed the element but didn't need to it turns out.

An electrical friend came over and followed the diagram in the manual and checked that there is 120V all the way to the element on both sides of the circuit but its not heating up. Also checked the wall socked for good power on both sides of the 240V.

After checking several times and a few more google searches the only thing we could come up with was the controller.

Before I drop $350 for another non returnable part does anyone have any experience with this?

Ok so you've checked for power to the heating element. You say 120 to both sides of the circuit but thats not what you need. If you were to disconnect one of the connections to the heating element I believe you will find one lead is hot the other dead. More than likely it would be the lead coming from the control board. The only thing preventing 120 from coming in from lead 2 would be the motor centrifugal switch. I would lean toward the control board having a bad heater relay. (most common)
Good news for you! If you purchase the control board here we have a 365 day return policy....... So if the board don't fix it then simply return for a refund.
Here is the part you need.
