You still need the tub free from the shaft though so no wasted time.

If it is one of these modern ones that leak onto trans and make horrible noises we've been replacing whole tub assemblies, trans and all. I think the trans# in our system subbed to it automatically or there was a bulletin to do so.

Yep that's new design. If you've caught the leak before any significant damage to trans has occurred you might get away with just the seal. Usually when I see them its just the beginning. Its worth calling GE parts to see if they've released a whole tub asm kit as this issue seemed to get far too common.
Warning, there is nothing fun about this task, the suspension rods can be a pain, the big tub nut is usually an issue too.
