I'm a trained appliance repair tech working on a GE WCVH6800J1WW. Could not get machine into test mode. Maunually tested all funtions (fill, agitate, drain, spin, high speed spin, etc.) and found all in working order. Fill valve clogged with lime crystals - replaced, pressure switch check out. Determined that new control board was needed (unless you think I have missed something). I replaced board with WH12X10468. Tested all functions (above) which worked correctly. I wanted to check for test mode, but new board also could not enter mode (signal, delay start, signal, delay start; wrong sequence?). Withn 24hr customer complains that lights on front panel flicker on-and-off intermittantly and that board will return to original time for cycle part way through the washer run. Symptomatic of imbalance, but rearranging clothes provides no help. Customer reported today that on an empty cycle the machine works perfectly (completes all tasks, as above). Adding clothes to a cycle causes the stalling, light flashing proplems. Any ideas???

Issues when under a load I would suspect the motor is getting weak or the MCU (Inverter unit) WH12X10418 may be your culprit.
Thats my 2 cents....

Could that affect the old board and new board? No error codes shown. Unable to get into test mode. Is there a way to reprogram the board if it has been affected?

If the motor is the issue the main CCu should be good.
I would run an ohms test on the motor to see if it is within specs.
