After about 16 months, the fins on our agitator started snapping off. So we ordered a replacement. Well, 6 months later, the fins on THAT one started snapping off. I really don't want to buy another agitator like that, but I can't get any kind of an answer (and certainly not from GE) on whether another type of agitator is compatible with my machine.

Does anybody know if there's another style of agitator that will work? Thanks!

In my experience reasons that agitators break might be using too little water. Another reason is overloading the tub with clothes. Either will put to much stress on those fins and cause them to snap off. The clothes need to have enough water so that they can float or swirl freely when being agitated.
I'm not saying this is your case but something to consider even if you find a different replacement.
