GE GSH25JFRFWW is 11 years old.

I know there's a lot of info on both of these problems but although it seems like I have two problems I have to believe there's one cause since they occurred at about the same time.

The clicking sound appears to be coming the ice maker. I believe the evap motor is behind the ice maker but the frequency of the clicks is very regular - about once per second. The problem is that the ice maker is turned off by a switch on its front. I have never used the ice maker.

The clicking noise started one morning and when I got home from work that night both the frig and the freezer were warm. After emptying both and taking the food to another house, I came back and unplugged and plugged in the frig again. It immediately started cooling but the clicking noise was there again. I believe it was clicking all night long but went away the next day.

I then noticed that the bottom of the freezer had a buildup of ice on the very bottom. I looked in the user manual and found where the drain plug was and it appears to be plugged with ice. I unplugged it and am defrosting it for the day.

Could the plugged drain have caused something to overheat and triggered a shut down? Can the ice maker be clicking even when the switch is turned off?

I also want to point out that ever since I moved into the house two years ago, the frig section appears to be too cold. Even with the control set to "2" - one step from the warmest position - the frig temp is about 36-38 deg F. With the freezer control set to "2" the temp is about 0 deg F.

Thanks in advance,
Charles
