Hi first time poster here - you guys have a great site!

My GE washer (model #GTWN4250D0WS) is making a loud, jet engine type noise during the spin cycle. From what I've read here so far, it sounds like the bearing is shot due to a leaky seal. I popped the front cover off my machine & confirmed that there is water (actually mucky brown crud) at the bottom of the case.

Please let me know which parts & tools to purchase in order to perform this repair. Thanks!

For some reason a parts diagram of your model is not coming up but I can tell you that you should have a service manual to do the repair. It is not difficult but it does take some time and you need to remove the drum. GE does not provide internet access for the tech materials but contact them and they may provide the info to you since you are an owner, but if not see if you an get one on the internet. You may have to pay a small fee but it is well worth it.

You should also be aware that often in the case of this type of leak water will enter the transmission and ultimately ruin it, so before you repair the machine you may want to consider replacing it. Just saying, good luck.
