My washer was making strange noise, so turned off but would not unlock so since I am not a patient person I jerked the door open and a white piece of plastic broke in shape of U. I ordered a new drain motor after running diagnostic tests but am not sure where this U came from. I can hold the door closed and run the diagnostic so I would not think it would come from the door switch assembly so is this a piece of the striker?

Can't really say but it seems it should have come from the door lock assembly or related parts,
And for future reference there is tab you can reach up and pull to unlock the door but you probably know that now.
