Door was left open. When we found it light was on but compressor wasn't running. Unplugged unit and replugged and nothing - no click, no hum. Starter relay or something worse?

Sorry but I cannot find any info on the given model number.
Tried here, Sears and Frigidaire.
Please check it.

If it is the type of freezer that uses an evaporator and a fan, was the fan on

If no then the compressor start relay is probably niot the problem

If the unit uses a mechanical defrost time perhaps the unit is in a defrost cycle.
How long did you wait. Defrost usually takes about half an hour.

Okay try LFFU1765DW4
No fan, No clicking, no hum from compressor, just the light seems to work. Did notice thermostat doesn't have that "click" when it goes from off to full on. Also notice a slight"ozone' smell when we first found freezer open. Left freezer unplugged overnight before plugging back in.

I turned the defrost timer about a quarter turn and fan has come on but compressor doesn't come on. I do hear a very quiet rapid clicking but it doesn't seem to be compressor making that sound.

Here are your parts
Parts for Frigidaire LFFU1765DW4 Freezer - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the wiring diagram.

I am not sure what the clicking could be.
But if the fan comes on the compressor should come on.

Below is a site that should help you troubleshoot it.
How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.com

Also here
How to Test Refrigerator and Freezer Compressors

Also check each pin to the compressor case (ground) to be sure that a winding is not grounding out.

Note the compressor test can tell you if a compressor is bad.
It does not tell you that the compressor is good as it may have other internal problems.
