My Maytag MVWC200XW1 stops agitating about 1 minute into the wash cycle. At this point it sits for about 15 minutes then agitates for about 5-10 seconds before draining and moving onto the rinse cycle. During the rinse cycle it agitates like it should. In the spin cycle it spins like it should. I unscrewed the lid latch and ran the cycle with the lid open and the washer is actually agitating during the first minute of the wash, last 5 seconds of the wash, and during the rinse cycle. Please help me!!!

Since the machine functions as it should during the rinse cycle this suggests the problem is with the control unit, not surprising since these control units hate moisture, vibration and heat and the washer provides all three.
If you want to try and replace it I suggest you purchase the part from this site since you can return it if it does not fix the problem. But given the cost of the part you may be better off with a basic no frills, no electronics top loader.
