I have followed the directions for accessing diagnostic codes for the Whirlpool washing machine model WTW5640XW3. It will not go into diagnostic mode or give me the codes. Is it possible that the board is bad? Of course, Whirlpool is of no assistance. Any help would be appreciated.

If it is any consolation the likely reason why Whirlpool is not helpful is that they really don't know what to do.

So I would suggest you change out the control unit, and while it is expensive if you buy from this site and the new control unit does not fix things you can return it. But your symptoms point to a bad board.
