Hi all, my Kenmore series80 model110... washer agitator keeps getting stuck and wont move. Initially i thought that the lid switch was bad and changed it because the machine would not go into the spin cycle. After i changed it everything worked fine for about 1 and a half loads then it did the same thing and wouldn't go into the spin cycle. Upon further inspection i found that the agitator would not move. I tried to turn it by hand and it wouldn't budge. i pulled down the motor and ran it on the floor to make sure that it was good and it worked fine in both wash and spin modes. I also was able to turn the coupler by hand. After fiddling around a bit the agitator suddenly freed up and was moving again. Put it back together and washed a load and it froze again. Is this a bad transmission, clutch or is the brake sticking?

Well it's not a brake problem, and I would say it is a transmission issue but maybe things will continue to work ok. So I would say do nothing and if the problem recurs then we can deal with it at that time.
Good Luck!

Thank you for your clarification. Since I already have everything apart I will just order a new gear case and change it.

Okay good. If you buy the part from this site you can return it if it does not fix the problem.
