I have a Kenmore Elite HE Washer, Model 29272000. When this drains it will overflow into a utility sink. Lately I've noticed a substantial amount of sand left behind in the sink. My thoughts are that perhaps over the summer when clothes have been washed after having been at the beach that any remaining sand is trapped in a filter within the washer which is now making it's way out. That said, I am unable to locate an exploded view of this washer to tell if and where any filter or basket may be. I should add that sand is NOT showing up on clothes after a wash nor is any found within the washer after a load. Any thoughts on where this would be coming from? It does not appear to be coming from either the hot or cold water sources that feed the washer. Serial Number and Model Number in photograph at this link: https://drive.google.com/folderv...QdGVSaUU&usp=sharing Many thanks!

Obviously there is no source of sand in the machine, so I think your comment that it left in the drain system is probably correct. As long as it is not a problem with your clothes I would say to keep using it and see if the sand, which is finite in amount, eventually stops appearing.
