Hey everyone, New to the forum, first post. Side by side fridge freezing fresh food. In door ice and water. Digital controls on freezer door. Ice maker was on, but now off, as I read THAT could be the problem. (Fridge has not run since ice maker turned off 60 minutes ago.) Replaced a thermistor in the fridge side. Current temps set at 5(freezer) and 45(fridge). Freezer temp IS 5. Fridge temp is 34. (Thermometers in both locations now.) Evaporator pan is dry, looks like it has been for the last few days. Not much opening and closing of doors, nor is food packed tight in either side. Evaporator fan runs. Compressor compresses. Door seals are good. Lights turn off when doors are closed. Had broken ice maker water line replaced May 2014. Fridge was never moved after delivery and install. It looked like it burst(froze?), under fridge. Took the tech 2 tries to find this problem! I am a master electrician by trade, so I think I can figure this out with a little guidance. Electrical Schematic with diagnostic codes is MISSING. This thing was manufactured in December of 2012. Driving me crazy. Whirpool not much help.

denman, All diagnostics checked good from tech sheet. It was exactly what you said it would be. Air diffuser door had a broken guide pin. Diffuser motor worked great, diffuser door wedged in the opening just crooked enough to allow air at all times from freezer compartment. Thanks for your help. Part is on order. Pete

You are welcome, glad to hear that you found the problem.
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause. |
