Hey all,
I'm having an issue with my washer that started occuring recently. My wife put a load of sheets in and it was uneven, putting stress on the machine. After rocking for a minute or so, the washer would not engage the spin cycle on its own. I took the front panel off to access the motor, and felt the heat pouring off it. It would only hum for a few seconds and then trip a fuse at the panel. I noticed that while the motor was humming, if I gave it a firm tap with a 3 lb hammer, it engaged right away and it was business as usual. Is there a solenoid that may have gone bad? I removed the motor and checked it out to see if there was anything obvious, but to no avail. My goal is to see if I can repair the washer easily, or if it's time to put it in the scrapyard. I cent find a model number, but it is an Admiral Capacity Plus, and the motor is model s68pxmtm 1094. Any help is much appreciated! :)

It is almost impossible to diagnose this problem from afar without a model number but I think your problem may be in the motor or belt or pulley.

Anyway, operate it with the front panel off for a while and see if the problem recurs. If it does try replacing the motor.

So just a followup.
All fixed. Here's the breakdown for anyone who may have this problem; for future reference.

The washing machine model number is: LNC6762B71
The motor has a sticker on it that reads "model number S68PXMTM1094".

As it turns out, just like I thought, the motor was shot. The windings within were toast. So I replaced it for $100 myself and it was simple (lots of instructional vids for this).

The actual motor PART number is: 21001950 and I got it on Amazon for just under $100 shipped.

If anyone has any trouble PM me and I'll help you out as best I can.
