My dishwasher has recently stopped drying. I have also noticed that the "Clean" light blinks constantly, and in order to keep the "Clean" light from blinking I have to reset the dishwasher by pressing the sequence:

"Heated Dry" → "Normal Wash" → "Heated Dry" → "Normal Wash"

What is the "most common" cause for a blinking "Clean" light and a cycle which does not dry? Is this typically a heating element? Is it typically something else?

I am trying to determine how much troubleshooting I can perform by accessing the dishwasher's bottom compartment and without having to pull the dishwasher from the cabinet until absolutely necessary.

Thank you in advance!

Just in case you do not have it see the attachment for the tech sheet.

First thing I would do is run your fingers along the heating element to make sure it's coating is OK.
If it is bubbled then that is a symptom of it being blown.

The easiest part to get at and check is the hi-limit thermostat.

Another way to dismantle the door so you can get at the control board.
Then you can measure P3 to P9. It should read about 20 ohms (heater resistance). This checks the hi-limit, the heater and the wires going to the heater.

Be sureto remove power from the unit when doing the above.

Thank you for your response. I have pulled the dishwasher out from under the cabinet, and I have disconnected both leads from the heater element. The heater element is reading "no contact" with my continuity tester, and so I presume that is a pretty sure indication that the element is bad. Correct?

Correct?
Yes at least I think it is a yes.
I never use a continuity tester so am not familiar with what resistance it needs to give a no contact reading.
